La Sultana

La Sultana is the kind of hotel that will give you a true Moroccan experience. I loved the architecture of this hotel, we spent a lot of our time outside of our room while on the property because of how much there is to see! Firstly, there are several areas you can hang out in, from the dining area/pool space, to an all white jacuzzi area, to an incredibly large rooftop where you’ll find most guests spending their time drinking cocktails under the Moroccan sun. There’s a pool on the rooftop too! On a really clear day, you’d also get an epic view of the mountains, unfortunately, they didn’t show up for us.

We also did a wander through the streets outside and felt that it was much less touristy than other places we had visited. I don’t know if it was just me or the days we wandered the local souks, but I definitely felt we were surrounded by many more locals here. In the area you’ll also find Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs.

We spent some time relaxing during our stay which included a visit to the spa. We tried a spa treatment called Moroccan Hammam. I’ve only ever experienced a similar treatment once before in Dubai. Basically, you get completely naked, lie on some marble and get aggressively scrubbed from head to toe. It doesn’t sound very pleasant but you walk out feeling squeaky clean and smooth right after! It’s strange, but it really works!

We had breakfast at La Sultana daily, and enjoyed dinner during one evening, where we ordered the Moroccan set menu. This meant Moroccan style salads, tagines, pie, & dessert, many things I’ve never experienced eating before. To be honest, I didn’t really know what I was putting in my mouth, but I do know that it tasted really good.

La sultana is just so beautiful and I regret so much that I haven’t been here when I went to morocco a few years back.
