Scarabeo Camp

Camping, or even glamping, but not as you know it!

I’ve glamped quite a lot, especially over the past few years, but Scarabeo Camp takes the cake!

It might be the stunning interior decor in the extremely large tents, or perhaps the incredible Atlas Mountains view, but Scarabeo Camp is a true five star glamping experience. We felt like this was better than many hotels we’ve stayed in!

We spent one night here, and I think many other guests did the same. I feel like we could have done two nights maximum. There’s not much to do in terms of a hike or anything, but there’s camel riding, quad biking and just general relaxing to be done. We noticed some kids pointed out a large hill in the distance and decided to walk to it (which was really really far btw, I don’t actually remember them returning – haha, but I’m sure they did) and of course absolutely no internet access, so that’s a way to force you to switch off from it all! I noticed many people reading books, or just chilling out in the sun having conversation while listening to music. We did some campaign work, and then really just relaxed. I would suggest arriving in the early morning, even if your tent isn’t ready, just to maximise your stay. There are many areas to chill in while they prepare your room.

There are two room types, both are the same size, but one is for two guests, and the other for families. In a two person tent, you’ll find a queen size bed, mini closet for hanging things if you need to, a safe with one charging port attached to it (for two prong round plug) and two usb ports, unfortunately our adapter didn’t fit because of it’s shape, but the manager was nice enough to let us charge our camera in his office. As for the bathroom, there is a public bathroom in the centre of the campsite, and your own toilet, shower, and sink attached to the side of your tent. It’s all very legit! Your room (two person) also comes with a couch and living area, and a couch with shelter in the front as well. It’s crazy huge and luxe!

We were incredibly lucky to have one of the clearest days. We could see the mountains from Marrakech town and it only got better when we reached Scarabeo Camp.

For dinner, we had chicken tangines, a potato and carrot dish, & couscous. Everyone gets the same meal unless you are vegan/vegetarian. Although I don’t know what the vege option is – sorry! There was cake for dessert as well. It was really tasty! For breakfast, it’s the same as most Moroccan riads & hotels. Various breads with honey & spreads, plain omelette and orange juice is served to you.

Scarabeo Camp was definitely the most luxurious glamping experience we’ve ever had. Although it’s on the pricier end for camping/glamping, I’d definitely recommend saving up for any camping experience by the Atlas mountains, and crossing all your fingers and toes for amazing visibility!
