Win a trip to see the Jewel!

We stopped by Singapore last month for the grand opening of the The Jewel at Changi Airport! This highly anticipated shopping centre really was worth the hype and wait. After hearing about it for years, as it was being constructed, I’m so glad we were one of the first to experience it!

Getting there:

The Jewel is connected to the arrival hall of Terminal 1, but is easily accessible from all terminals. From Terminals 2 & 3, you can walk via the link bridge, which is a five to ten minute walk. From Terminal 4, you can take the free shuttle bus to Terminal 2 and then walk to the Jewel via the link bridge. If you are in transit, you must clear immigration and customs. Changi airport recommends a five hour layover if you want to explore the Jewel, and will not let you clear immigration if your layover is under three hours. 

If you have baggage with you that you’d prefer not to drag around, you can drop these off at Baggage Storage located on Level 1. It will cost you a little, but will allow you to explore the Jewel more easily, and hands-free! 

Stay:

We stayed at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. This hotel is located at Terminal 3 and is seamlessly connected to the Jewel via the link bridge as I mentioned above. It’s actually one of the best airport hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and doesn’t make you feel like you’re in an airport. We would basically duck back and forth between our room and the Jewel as we shopped and ate all day.

There is also a 130 room hotel located within the Jewel, operated by YOTEL. I haven’t seen or stayed there myself so I can’t tell you how good it is, but just letting you know!

See:

The main attraction is of course the vortex waterfall located at the centre of the Jewel, which has to be seen both during the day and night! It’s official name is The Jewel HSBC Rain Vortex. I love the overall natural theme that has been created at the Jewel, which reminds me of Singapore’s famous Gardens By The Bay, yet it has it’s own unique charm. And I say ’natural theme’, because there are over 3000 trees thanks to the Shisedo Forest Valley, which spans the entire jewel across all five levels, it is also one of Singapore’s largest indoor collections of plants. 

We pretty much spent an entire day at the Jewel so we were able to see the vortex in natural light, and also by night time. If you’re planning a visit, do try and see it during the evening as the spectacular light shows are not to be missed! The light show takes place at an hourly interval in the evening starting from 7.30 pm until 12.30 pm.

Shop:

The shopping experience at the Jewel is endless. From Zara, APM Monaco, Coach, & Furla, to the Pokemon Center (Singapore’s first), there is something for everyone. There are 280 stores and dining options, with many being a first for Singapore. And until the 26th of May, you can find a large range of opening specials. What’s even more exciting is that some of the attractions are yet to open at the Jewel, like the walking nets & bouncing nets located at the top level in Canopy Park (L5). These are pictured below and are set to open June 10. Also set to open on the same day are The Foggy Bowls, Canopy Bridge, Discovery Slides, and Canopy Mazes.
